Imagineers Show Disney Adventure World Model to ‘The Lion King’ Animator, Aerial Photos Show Construction Progress – WDW News Today
Soon, Walt Disney Studios Park at Disneyland Paris will officially become Disney Adventure World as part of a years-long transformation. The updates include an Adventure Bay, World of Frozen, and “Lion King” expansion — the latter of which Imagineers showed to the animator responsible for Scar.
Scar Animator Visits Imagineering
Disney Legend Andreas Deja recently visited the Walt Disney Imagineering Glendale campus where he viewed various upcoming projects, including the new “The Lion King” attraction coming to Disney Adventure World. Deja was the supervising animator for Scar in “The Lion King,” as well as Gaston in “Beauty and the Beast” and Jafar in “Aladdin.”
Imagineering shared photos of Deja looking at the Pride Lands on the Disney Adventure World model. The new themed area inspired by the classic animated film will include a log flume ride similar to Splash Mountain and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.
Disney Adventure World Construction
DLP Works shared some aerial photos on social media of construction progress on the park. The photos were taken on November 12, 2024.
The Adventure Bay expansion includes various offerings around a large lake. Crews are paving the pathways around the lake and have started installing lampposts. A pavilion features green rooftops. Rectangles on the ground outline future kiosks.
A crane towers over World of Frozen, on the far side of the lake from the pre-existing park. The crane was used to install the tallest peak of the North Mountain. A show building stretches out behind the mountain. Theming is starting to be installed in the land.
The technical basin serving the lake is complete. The lake is full of water although the more shallow marina of World of Frozen is not. Elements of the Arendelle Castle are visible near the edge of the lake and empty marina.
The space allocated for the Pride Lands has not been developed yet. It will open sometime after World of Frozen, which is scheduled to open in 2026.
Adventure Bay will also be home to a table-service restaurant with Disney Princesses called The Regal View Restaurant and Lounge and a new “Tangled” ride, Raiponce Tangled Spin.
