7 World Champions React To Jon Jones Vs. Stipe Miocic Results
Jon Jones successfully defended his UFC heavyweight championship in a dominant performance. Jones destroyed Stipe Miocic, scoring a third-round KO victory that sent the Madison Square Garden crowd into a frenzy.
Take a look at Jones’ finish via spinning backkick.
After the fight, several current and former world champions took to social media to react to Jones’ victory. Former UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos congratulated his countryman Charles Oliveira, who prevailed over Michael Chandler in the co-main event, and Jones.
Former UFC men’s bantamweight champion and fellow New Yorker Aljamain Sterling lauded Jones’ uses of the spinning back kick.
Reigning men’s bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili gives it up for Jones, calling him the G.O.A.T.
Injured UFC welterweight champion Belal Muhammad suspects Jones’ kick broke Miocic’s ribs.
Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jamahal Hill called Jones’ performance dominant, “as usual.”
Former two-division champion Henry Cejudo says Jones is and will always be the G.O.A.T.
Interestingly, former UFC heavyweight champion and current Professional Fighters League Superfights champ Francis Ngannou complimented Jones’ performance. He said, “I see you.”
Fans never got to see a fight between Jones and Ngannou, and now that they are with different promotions, the chances are even slimmer that we’ll ever see the dream fight.
Thankfully for the UFC, interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall has emerged as a more practical dream fight for Jones. Based on Jones’ post-fight interview, it sounds like the fight will happen sometime next year.
