Dream Destinations Travel Show kicks off at MGM Springfield
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) – Summer travel season is just a matter of time away, hundreds flocked to MGM Springfield early Sunday to get a taste of some of the adventures out there.
“We’re gonna plan some vacations, we’re getting near retirement age and we want to do some travel,” said Roseann Bergdoll.
Don’t we all want a pause from the pressures of life, well the Dream Destinations Travel Show at MGM Springfield is helping you start your summer soiree search.
MassLive put on the event, their tourism director told us what you need to know before you head out the door.
“Everyone knows you should book your trip ahead of time, so this gives you the opportunity to speak with representatives on where you would like to go,” explained Steve Fox.
Oh the places you can go, from New York to New Mexico, Boston or the Bahamas, the show had something for everyone.
Don’t want to spend the night? they’ve got day trips. If you aren’t too keen with staying on-land, why not head out in the water?
“We have pent up demand from COVID,” added Bill Walsh, President of Cruise Travel Outlet. “So we’ve been really extremely busy. We’ve tripled our business in the last three years; the cruise business; and the cruise business is doing well right now. Today alone we found so many people who direct to the cruise lines, we always have a better deal than going direct to the cruise lines because we buy in bulk.”
Maybe water isn’t worth your wild, there’s plenty of places nearby you may want to check out.
“We could see things that were local, more local, that we hadn’t really thought about,” noted Kimberly Brodeur-Grindle. “We were like ‘oh, I never really thought about that. We live in Massachusetts but never thought about going to central Massachusetts and doing something fun.”
Mapping it all out may seem so stressful, one visitor said seeing these sights slipped her into the travel trance.
“It gets you excited to travel, and you know what’s out there but bringing it together in one place, walking around and talking to people and asking your specific questions that really helps to form a plan in your mind about where you want to go,” said Roseann Bergdoll.
