“I’m Sick”: Kevin Durant Forced To Clarify His Stance On Gambling After Collab With .23 Billion Company Draws Fresh Accusations

“Great dub suns, and for my parlayers, better luck next time lol”. If there is one thing about himself that Kevin Durant has made known over the years, it is his criticism of sports betting. He is not the first known to highlight receiving criticism from bettors whenever they lose a bet because of his performance. However, he has taken a more vocal stance on this issue than several of his peers. Therefore, it certainly came as a surprise when fans came across one of the brands that the Suns star chose to promote.

Earlier today, a social media user took a shot at Kevin Durant by highlighting him as a hypocrite. The same reportedly occurred after a recent promo for FanDuel’s NFL betting platform featured the NBA star. Since 2009, the company has been well-known for its history of dealing in legal gambling. Therefore, the user wrote “the dude who tells people to stop gambling and get a job promoting fanduel”, accompanied by a crying emoji. Amid the criticism he was receiving, however, Durant was quick to hit back. For him, it was about ‘Hate the Player, Don’t Hate the Game.’ To be clear, this is not how the saying actually goes.

“No, I tell u to stop complaining about this life that youve committed to. When u lose, there’s finger pointing. When u win, there’s gloating about how smart you are about seeing the future. No gratitude to the service workers like myself” Durant wrote on X. “I’m sick of it.”

Kevin Durant’s association with the $3.23 billion company is not anything new. In fact, according to Forbes, he has been holding a multi-year partnership with the company since 2022. FanDuel reportedly owned about 40% of the online sports betting market share back then. Therefore, the company may have wanted to expand even further by taking advantage of the NBA player’s standing in the basketball community. In September of this year, he appeared on FanDuel TV’s ‘Up & Adams Friday’ to announce he’ll be appearing on the show weekly during the NFL season to give his picks on the football games.

“Yeah, partnering with FanDuel … I’m excited to be here, man,” said Durant in a statement, “and show how much bias I have for my (Washington) Commanders and pick some NFL games, have some fun.” Durant got trolled even back then for his association. As highlighted above, however, Kevin Durant has no problem with gambling. He only has a problem when people blame him for their losses. If the bettors find other players being ‘sympathetic’ to their ‘cause’ and highlight that fact to Durant himself, the player is quick to shut them down.

Kevin Durant took a shot at fan who highlighted LeBron James helping bettor with parlay: “Can’t keep lyin like this”

Less than a week ago, the Lakers had a memorable win against the Toronto Raptors. In his locker room, LeBron James discussed the moment when he made a rebound and pointed to a fan. The 39-year-old revealed that the fan shouted, “ONE MORE REBOUND.” Therefore, he simply made the move and pointed at him to acknowledge that he received the message.

Soon, several social media users began to joke that LeBron had helped the fan with a parlay. One individual then used it to take a shot at Kevin Durant. He wrote, “And this is why nobody bets on  @KDTrey5 fragile a*s.” The message reached the Suns star. He reacted by writing, “You can’t keep lying like this on the internet.” Given the hate messages that KD receives from bettors, the player is well aware of the level of bets that are placed on him.
