iPhone owners hear strangers’ conversations on speakerphone due to unknown glitch
At least two reports say that some iPhone owners have started hearing strangers’ voices in the speakers of their smartphones.
One user wrote on Reddit that initially perceived the strange male voice as the work of one of the background programs — but upon checking, it found that none of them was activated In this case, the owner of the iPhone heard an unknown man telling someone that he had been in an accident, and two days later the speaker suddenly played someone’s curse words.
Later, it turned out that the problem was not isolated, and users who encountered it suggested that the cause was a glitch in iOS 18 that plays background sound in random order.
However, this may be a privacy bug, and Apple, which has not yet commented on the glitch, is aware of it. For example, when iPadOS 18 started blocking devices with M4, the company remained silent until the issue became widespread.
