Next year’s concert season at Ford Amphitheatre is already filling in with some Grammy Award winners.
Soul and R&B singer-songwriter Leon Bridges will bring his “The Leon Tour” to the new open-air venue May 22. Tickets start at $56 and will go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday. Call 888-929-7849 or go online to axs.com or fordamphitheater.live.
His fourth album, “Leon,” dropped in October, preceded by the single “Peaceful Place” in August. His hits include “Coming Home,” “That’s What I Love,” “River” and “Bet Ain’t Worth the Hand,” which won a Grammy.
Tickets for Grammy Award-winning country singer Dwight Yoakam’s May 9 concert also go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday. Prices have yet to be announced.
Yoakam’s first album in nine years, “Brighter Days,” was released this month, and includes the songs “I’ll Pay the Price” and “I Don’t Know How to Say Goodbye,” a duet with rapper and singer Post Malone.
Ford Amphitheater noise levels during opening weekend complied with city-imposed requirements, officials say
Australian rock band King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard will perform Aug. 8. The group released its 26th album, “Flight b741,” in August. Tickets are $76-$375 and on sale now.
Grammy Award-winning Weird Al Yankovic, known for his comedic parodies of popular songs, will perform Sept. 4. Tickets are $52-$136 and on sale now.
The new 8,000-seat amphitheater on the city’s north side, which opened in August with three days of sold-out shows by the pop rock band OneRepublic, offered about 20 concerts throughout the summer and fall by bands in an array of genres, including rock, pop, country, contemporary Christian and reggae.
After receiving hundreds of complaints from nearby residents about the noise level of concerts, the amphitheater’s owner, JW Roth, is now working with the city on noise-mitigation efforts.
