Chaffee BoCC to Consider Bonfire Entertainment Special Event Permit, Return to LUC Public Hearing – by Jan Wondra – Ark Valley Voice

The Chaffee Board of County Commissioners (BoCC) will meet in regular session on Tuesday, November 19 in the Buena Vista Community Center located at 715 E.Main Stl, Buena Vista. It will commence its agenda of regular items at 9:00 a.m., followed at 10:00 a.m. by the continuation of its Public Hearing on the Chaffee Land Use Code rewrite project.

Among the items on the Consent Agenda is approval of Letter of Support for Colorado Mountain College to apply for the Colorado Opportunity Scholarship Initiative (COSI) Matching Students Scholarship (MSS) Program 2024-25 Allocation.

The regular agenda lead item is a public hearing for the Annual Review of the Renewal Music Festival at The Meadows on teh edge of Buena Vista. The BoCC will also consider a Special Event Permit for “Campout for the Cause,”produced by Bonfire Entertainment at The Hutchinson Ranch, 6700 Old Corral Road, Salida. The event is set for July 24-26, 2025, with a maximum attendence of 2,000 plus 200 staff.

Convened as the Board of Equalization the commissioners will consider the abatement of taxes for 212 N Colorado Avenue, Buena Vista, for the 2023 Tax Year/

The BoCC will move into a short executive session under C.R.S. §24-6-402(4)(b) for purposes of receiving legal advice on specific legal questions and strategy involving the Hill Ranch, returning to regular session to discuss the Hill Ranch Settlement Agreement and Revegetation Plan update and amendment proposal.

No earlier than 10:00 a.m. the BoCC will return to the public hearing it continues from November 12, 2024, to consider he adoption of the Chaffee County Land Use Code (LUC) as part of the Chaffee County Land Use Code Rewrite Project.

Among the contracts and grant decisions for consideration is approval of the county’s engagement of Sullivan Green Seavy Jarvis LLC for legal services in connection with Case No. 2024CA001593 Brown v Chaffee County. It is also set to approve a contract with Fairfield & Woods, P.C. to serve as Special Land Use Counsel for Chaffee County
