NEW HAMPSHIRE — Granite State holiday shoppers who want to start shopping on Thanksgiving must shop primarily online as most major retailers have announced they’ll be closed on the holiday.

There are a few exceptions to the trend of retail stores closing on Thanksgiving Day since 2019. Some discount dollar-type stores will observe limited hours, and both Cabela’s and Bass Pro Shops are open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day.

Several retail chains are already offering door-buster deals and pricing, as Black Friday events are no longer limited to a single day in a retail world changed by online companies. Also, retailers became more agile during the product shortages of the COVID-19 pandemic and were careful not to overstock, thereby avoiding excess inventories to unload during the holiday shopping season.

Bass Pro Shops will be open from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. on Thanksgiving and from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Black Friday.

Best Buy stores are closed on Thanksgiving, with most expected to open at 6 am. On Black Friday. Some may observe different hours due to local ordinances and landlord regulations, so be sure to check with your local store to confirm hours.

Dick’s Sporting Goods will be closed on Thanksgiving Day and open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Black Friday.
