Amazon debuts its largest Echo Show yet | TechCrunch
Amazon on Wednesday introduced the Echo Show 21, its largest Echo Show yet. The smart display comes with double the viewing area of the existing Echo Show 15, which is also getting an upgrade.
The two new devices have better audio quality than the original Echo Show 15, as they come with double the bass and room adaption technology, which means that the smart display will adjust its audio output based on the acoustics of the room it’s in.
They also include camera upgrades, as the devices have more than double the field of view, along with 65% more zoom, than the first-generation Echo Show 15. This means that you will remain in the frame during video calls even if you move around your kitchen. Plus, the devices include noise reduction technology to make audio during video calls clearer.
Both the Echo Show 15 and Echo Show 21 include a built-in smart home hub, making them compatible with Matter and able to directly connect with Wi-Fi, Thread, and Zigbee devices. The devices can also control things like lights, switches, and plugs. Amazon also notes that these are the first Echo devices that are compatible with Wi-Fi 6E, which should allow for smoother streaming experiences.
In addition, Amazon noted that users will soon be able to add more informational widgets to their Echo Show’s home screen, such as sports scores, breaking news headlines, and stock prices.
The new Echo Show 21 costs $399.99 and the upgraded Echo Show 15 retails for $299.99. The devices are now available to purchase and come with an Alexa Voice Remote and wall mounting equipment.
