World’s Tallest Woman Meets World’s Shortest Woman: ‘You’re So Beautiful’

The world’s tallest and shortest women have been united!

On Thursday, Nov. 21, the BBC shared a video of  Rumeysa Gelgi, 27, and Jyoti Amge, 30, meeting for the first time for the 20th annual Guinness World Records Day.

Gelgi, an advocate and researcher from Turkey, is exactly 7′.71″ tall,  while Amge, an actress from India, is 2’7″ tall.

“Hello,” the tallest woman in the world said as she greeted her new pal. “How are you?”

Walking over to Gelgi, Amge waved and displayed a beaming smile.

“It was so lovely to meet the tallest woman in the world for the first time,” she told the camera. “She is so good-natured, I feel really comfortable with her.”

Gelgi also told the outlet that she and Amge “have a lot in common.”

“We both love self-care, makeup, doing our nails and jewelry,” she added.

The new friends were also filmed engaging in conversation while sipping tea and sitting across a coffee table from one another.

“How are you doing Jyoti?,” Gelgi asked, to which Amge replied, “Good, how are you?”

“I’m doing good, thank you,” Gelgi said. “You are so beautiful.”

Amge then responded, “Thank you, you too.”

The duo were honored as icons for Guinness World Records‘ 70th-anniversary edition.

“I never thought I would be called an ICON and it’s extra special that it is in the 70th-anniversary edition of Guinness World Records,” Amge said, per the publication. “I can’t explain how happy I am!”

Gelgi also stated, “I’ve seen myself among all these artists and athletes that I’ve always been a fan of – it’s an indescribable feeling.”

According to Guinness World Records, Gelgi was named the tallest teenager living (female) at the age of 17. She was then confirmed as the tallest woman living in 2021.

Meanwhile, Amge was named the shortest teenager in 2009 at 15, before being confirmed as the shortest woman in 2011.
