Knox Menswear brings contemporary style to Lafayette
Knox Menswear of Lafayette is changing how men wear their clothes.
Knox Menswear officially opened its doors at 500 Settlers Trace Blvd., Suite 11 on Oct. 28. Lafayette native Zac Fremin thought Lafayette needed a men’s contemporary clothing store. For someone who has a family in retail and loves fashion, opening his own store was always an easy decision.
“It’s always been something that I love,” Fremin said. “Fashion has been an interest of mine.”
At Knox Menswear, Fremin said the clothing style is for everyday fashion and lifestyle.
“We don’t do suits,” Fremin said. “We just stick to the basics in contemporary fashion.”
Fremin said contemporary fashion refers to the modern style of clothing and accessories that reflect current trends, cultural influences and societal values. It typically bridges the gap between high-end designer fashion and accessible, ready-to-wear pieces, offering stylish, on-trend items at a mid-range price point.
“I feel like Lafayette has a lot of Southern wear,” Fremin said. “I wouldn’t consider Knox that style.”
Every outfit should start with a good foundation, Fermin said, with key pieces that can be added over time for refreshing looks.
Fremin and Knox Menswear offer brands such as 7DIAMONDS, Mizzen+Main Menswear, Faherty and Tommy Bahama. Fremin said he is working with over 15 brands in total, and they are always looking to add more.
Fremin hand-picks each piece of clothing. He notes that quality is a big part of the brands he works with.
“I want the things in the stores to last,” Fremin said. “I want people to return and know they got a good quality.”
Men value the quality of their clothing. They tend to look at the fabrics they buy.
“You want to look good and still feel comfortable throughout the day,” Fremin said. “I like a lot of stretch into my fabrics because it creates a more comfortable fit.”
Fremin said he always wants to add to the inventory at Knox Menswear. He welcomes feedback from customers.
“We are always looking into new brand partnerships and expanding product offerings,” Fremin said. “We are always listening to our customers and expanding things to our store.”
Fremin said helping customers is one of Knox Menswear’s main missions. He said some men might need help putting outfits together. Knox Menswear aims to give customers that one-on-one shopping experience.
Fremin said Knox offers a simple shopping experience for anyone, from an expert in contemporary fashion to a first-time buyer looking to update his wardrobe.
“We don’t want it to be too overwhelming, because I feel like we have all been in those department stores that are three levels and you don’t know where to start,” Fremin said. “I try to keep it very simple.”
As for what’s next, Fremin isn’t ready to look too far ahead. But for him and Knox Menswear, he said he is excited to continue meeting customers and building his brand.
“I am excited to see where the business can go from here,” Fremin said.
