Genshin Impact: How To Unlock & Complete Molting Season World Quest

Natlan hosts many quests and activities, and more are being added to the newest Genshin Impact region with every update. “Molting Season” is a world quest introduced in the 5.2 update and requires the use of the Indwell ability to work with some nearby Qucusaur to save a kidnapped man and also do some fancy flying. You’ll also have the opportunity to gather some Obsidian Shards during this quest, so it’s not one to miss.

The Saurian Indwell ability allows players to inhabit the bodies of various creatures around Natlan to assist them in multiple ways. Every Saurian has different abilities, allowing you to fly, swim, and dig your way through the Natlan countryside. “Molting Season” will have you Indwell with a Qucusaur to save the trapped man.

How To Unlock The Molting Season World Quest

No Prerequisite Required; You Can Start This World Quest Right Away

Unlike some Genshin World Quests, you can start “Molting Season” as soon as you unlock the Natlan region. To find the quest, head to the camp to the southeast of the Flower-Feather Clan’s main village. Here, you’ll be entered into a dialogue with two Angry Saurian Traffickers, who are fighting about a man they have trapped in a cave nearby. This man, Acomitl, is being pressured by the traffickers to sell them a baby Qucusaur.

After fighting the Traffickers and getting them out of the way, talk through Acomitl through the bars of the cave. You’ll learn that the only ones who know the path to the cave are the nearby Qucusaurs, so you’ll need to talk with them to get him out. Find the Qucusaur Spiritscone to Indwell, then talk to the Qucusaur to head to the next step of the quest.

How To Finish The Molting Season World Quest

Open The Cave Entrance And Then Get Ready For A Warrior Challenge

The Melancholic Qucusaur will tell you the secret knock for opening the door to the cave, and the Sleepy Qucusaur will reveal the way to the cave’s back entrance. Using the Qucusaur, follow the secret path to the cave, then open it up using these dialogue options:

• Booong…
• Booong, booong, booong…
• Booong, booong…

After knocking three times, the door of the cave will open, and you’ll be able to reach Acomitl inside. He’ll tell you about himself; he’s part of the Flying-Feather Clan Qucusaur riders, but the cost of being an excellent flyer is too much for him. He asks you if you’d fly with him, just once, to show the captain that he’s just not fit for flying so that he can get a break and do something else with his life. Once you accept, Acomitl will take you to a high-up platform where you can take on a Warrior Challenge.

When completing the Warrior Challenge, look out for Orbs of Inspiration and Challenge Coins to make your flight more rewarding. After completing it, you’ll get a few chests if you’ve done well. Overall, the “Molting Season” quest isn’t too exciting, but it is also one of the more low-effort World Quests that Genshin Impact offers, so check it out whenever you’re in the area for its free rewards.
