Husband, wife turn their passion into a health business to help others

MASON, Ohio (WXIX) – A couple turned their passion into a business with the goal of helping people improve their health.

If you are thinking about making your New Year’s resolution about your health, you might consider stopping by Hydrafuse.

Paul Maratos and Jenny Maratos opened Hydrafuse Health and Wellness in Mason in 2023.

They took something they each had a passion for and turned it into their business.

“I’m a registered nurse,” explained Paul Maratos. “I’ve been a registered nurse for 15 years. I also owned a gym back in the day. I’ve been a personal trainer. My wife, Jenny, has been a gymnast her whole life. She’s also been a personal trainer, so we believe in fitness. We know what it can do for you and it’s a passion for us.”

In one year, the husband and wife say their clients have lost at least 20 pounds, but some have lost up to 60 pounds. No matter the weight loss, all of their clients have improved their health, the couple says.

“We’ve helped our friends for years; Doing personal training, weight management, meal prepping food exercises, and that’s always been our passion for both of us, and this kind of aligned with that passion being able to help people who struggled with their weight and personally, I’ve struggled with weight,” Paul Maratos said.

Paul Maratos says he used to weigh 300 pounds and Jenny turned to medical options to lose weight, which she discovered wasn’t enough.

“I have been taking the medically assisted weight loss medication and it was helping me, but there were parts that were missing for it,” Jenny Maratos explained. “It was just you’re taking the medication and good luck.”

They say Hydrafuse offers more than just the medical option. They offer personalized treatment when it comes to nutrition and exercise.

“There is really a lot more to it than taking the medication,” Jenny Maratos says. “Because if you just take the medication, you’re going to lose weight, you’re going to lose muscle. So, it’s really important to have proper nutrition so you’re getting the nutrition you need and also continuing to work out so you’re not losing the muscle mass. If you’re just getting the medication off a website, you’re not going to know anything like that.”

Hydrafuse is able to offer personalized treatment with technology in the fitness center.

They use a scale to take a 3D body scan that tells you more than just your weight.

“The scale gives one number,” Jenny Maratos describes. “If you’re retaining water that day, you are going to be disappointed. This is something we recommend on a regular basis, not every day. It will help us and help you recognize the weight that you lost, the muscle that you’ve put on, the things that you are actually doing right. That way we can tweak your plan to improve those things.”

Hydrafuse is located in Suite 2 at 8485 Mason Montgomery Road.
