Creek pulls away from St. Clairsville
ST. CLAIRSVILLE — Indian Creek moved to 2-0 on their young season Tuesday, running away with a 62-19 victory over homestanding St. Clairsville (0-2) behind a well-rounded team effort.
Indian Creek held a 6-4 lead a few minutes into the first quarter, but a 22-2 run over the final six minutes put Creek ahead 26-6 at quarter’s end. The visitors led 49-9 at halftime.
“We kind of got off to a slow start,” Indian Creek head coach Steve Eft said. “But what got us going- the girls were running the floor well, sharing the ball pretty well. We were able to jump on them a little bit there in the second quarter and extend our lead. I was happy with that overall.
“Defensively, we’re trying some new things out there that we’re working through. But overall it was a very good defensive night.”
Six Indian Creek players scored Tuesday, all finishing with between seven and 12 points. Kaydence Walker scored a dozen, while Camryn Ketron, Gracie Klinesmith and Riley Sadler each had 11. Sadler also pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds to record a double-double. McKenna Scott had 10 points and six assists. Gabby Taylor scored seven.
