South Korea’s Capital Seoul Paralyzed by Once-in-a-Generation Snowfall Freezing Travel and Shutting Down the City – Travel And Tour World

Wednesday, November 27, 2024

South Korea’s capital, Seoul, faces a rare snowstorm, freezing travel, grounding flights, halting ferries, and disrupting daily life with record-breaking snowfall.

The storm led to the cancellation of over 220 flights, the suspension of 90 ferries nationwide, and the closure of hiking trails. In Hongcheon, icy roads triggered a tragic five-vehicle accident, leaving one person dead and four injured. The heavy snowfall also caused trees and signboards to collapse, prompting urgent safety measures by authorities.

Snowfall is forecasted to persist until Thursday afternoon, with central, eastern, and southwestern regions bracing for further disruptions.

With evolving homeownership trends driving record-breaking sales, the residential market is projected to reach 305,000–310,000 units in 2024 and 340,000–350,000 units by 2025.
