NFL world can’t believe how Bears HC Matt Eberflus blew another game

Stop me if you’ve heard this before, but the Chicago Bears found a new and excruciating way to lose a football game this season. This time, however, it took place on Thanksgiving for the whole world to see. The Bears fell to the Detroit Lions 23-20 in a game that looked to be a laugher early on.

Chicago (4-8) struggled out of the gate and didn’t put up much of a fight during the first half. The Bears only managed to convert two first downs, both of which came on the final drive as Detroit (11-1) led 16-0 at halftime. Things turned around in the second half, though.

Bears quarterback Caleb Williams jumpstarted the offense and threw three touchdowns, two of which went to Keenan Allen. The defense clamped up and suddenly, a 16-0 lead turned into 23-20 late in the fourth quarter with the Bears driving. That’s where disaster struck yet again, though.

With seconds on the clock and in field goal range, Williams took a sack that knocked the offense back six yards. As the clock ticked down, Williams attempted to gather everyone to run a play. The Bears had one timeout left to use, but head coach Matt Eberflus chose not to call it for some reason. Instead, Williams threw a deep ball with time expiring that fell incomplete.

The Bears could have taken time to regroup to call another play. Instead, they mismanaged the final seconds to drop their sixth game in a row. It’s also yet another nail in Eberflus’ Bears coaching career, and NFL fans were shocked at what they saw at the end of the game:
