Vermonters encouraged to shop local for Small Business Saturday

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – If box store doorbusters are too big for you this Black Friday, Vermont has a way to shop small.

A sharp contrast to Black Friday, Small Business Saturday is all about local stores that boost the state economy and strengthen the community.

Participating businesses throughout Vermont hope to see Vermonters show up to support.

Some Vermonters say they forego black Friday but wouldn’t miss the chance to shop local.

“I was a small business owner, a retailer, and I know how important it is for people to support their local businesses so we like to do that,” said Bruce Bell of Stowe.
