Small Business Saturday highlights local shopping in Eureka after Black Friday surge

Millions of customers enjoy this shopping weekend with Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Businesses in Humboldt County are asking people not to forget about small businesses on Saturday.

Small Business Saturday is a nationwide event encouraging people to shop locally and return their money to the community and downtown Eureka serves as a hub for small businesses.

Eureka Books, which has been open for decades, will be participating in Saturday’s event. Owner Solomon Everta said that days like tomorrow mean more to the community than some may think.

“It’s a way for local people to support the community and their local small business, and all the money goes back into the community. So it’s a little thing after Black Friday, and you’re still going to have sometime on Saturday come down and find lots of great things from your local business here in old and downtown Eureka,” said Everta.
