Canyon bookstore expecting great crowd for Small Business Saturday

CANYON, Texas (KFDA) – Panhandle small businesses are celebrating Small Business Saturday with deals that will help support our community.

A Canyon business owner says shopping local provides a boost to our economy, keeping more money in the area.

Those who shop at large-scale businesses will only see about 15% of their money staying in the area. That number drops to 7% when shopping online.

“Small businesses are so important for our local economy. It is said to shop at a local business 30%, almost 30% of your purchase will stay locally,” said Dallas Bell, owner at Burrowing Owl Bookstore.

The owner of Burrowing Owl says when you shop local not only are you supporting their business, but they turn around and support the community too.

“The beautiful thing about our local shops is that we’re here to serve you. We are looking out for what you need and we hope to be able to give that back to you,” said Bell.

This Saturday, small businesses are getting ready to welcome in the community so they can get to know them better.

“Small Business Saturday is one of the ways we can get to know you better, we hope you get to know us better as well during this day. It’s just a fun day to really give back to the people that serve you,” said Bell.

Many local small businesses will be having deals this Saturday following Black Friday.
