SB: Cowgirls Travel To La. Tech Tuesday – McNeese State University Athletics

LAKE CHARLES – McNeese softball will travel to Ruston Tuesday night for its final regular season road game against Louisiana Tech.  First pitch is set for 6 p.m. with the game streaming on ESPN+. 

This will be the third game of the season against the Bulldogs (29-18) who defeated the Cowgirls in the previous two games 8-0 (6 innings) at the LSU Purple and Gold Challenge on March 3.  La. Tech also picked up a 3-1 win in Lake Charles on March 5.

McNeese (35-17) will close out the regular season this weekend with a Southland Conference home series against Southeastern.

The Cowgirls enter Tuesday’s game coming off a 2-1 SLC series win at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi while La. Tech is also coming off a CUSA 2-1 road series win over New Mexico State.

Freshman Alexis Dibbley continues to lead the Cowgirls with a .344 batting average and is tied for second on the team with 44 hits. Corine Poncho has a team high 15 homeruns, 41 runs scored 33 RBI, and 27 walks.

Senior Shaelyn Sanders is the ace of the staff who is 18-9 overall with a 1.76 ERA, 132 strikeouts in 170.2 innings.

Alexis Gilio leads La. Tech with a .359 average and 52 hits while Allis Floyd (13-6) with a 2.78 ERA and Brook Melnychuk (10-7) with a 3.00 ERA lead the pitching staff.
