Holiday travel in full swing throughout Southern New England
WARWICK, R.I. (WJAR) — Airports, bus and train stations throughout Southern New England experienced steady travel flow on Sunday.
The Rhode Island Airport Corporation last week told NBC 10 Sunday is one of its busiest travel days of the year. But many travelers were surprised to see short TSA lines.
“It’s actually quiet,” said Katie Chon, who flew in Sunday afternoon. “I’m surprised it’s this quiet, I thought it would be like kind of all over the place.”
Travelers leaving Boston this morning experienced massive lines throughout the airport. TSA was anticipating over 70,000 people to pass through Logan Airport on Sunday.
“It’s crazy, I thought I was going to have to wait for 20 minutes but it looks like an hour,” said one traveler waiting in the TSA line at Logan.
Both Peter Pan Bus Terminal and the Amtrak station in Providence saw steady travel on Sunday.
At TF Green, many travelers mentioned today’s travel was not as bad as Tuesday or Wednesday.
“Tuesday was a mess,” said Kate Carroll of Coventry. “I’ve never seen the lines so long before, people were literally lined out the door.”
