Save a huge $400 on this 49-inch Samsung OLED gaming monitor and get a free 2TB Samsung 990 Pro SSD
If you’ve been fantasizing about filling your peripheral vision with a colossal gaming monitor, then now’s your chance to go in for the kill. This Black Friday gaming monitor deal not only enables you to save $400 on this huge 49-inch Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 monitor, but Samsung is even throwing an SSD into the bargain. It’s not just any old drive either, but a fast 2TB Samsung 990 Pro.
We’ve been mightily impressed by the massive OLED screens we’ve seen from the Samsung stable, and we awarded the 49-inch G95SC a score of 9/10 in our Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 review, awarding it a place on our guide to the best gaming monitor.
The G91SD monitor on offer here has the same screen size as this model, but a lower refresh rate of 144Hz, compared with 240Hz on the G95SC, but that’s still fast enough for most gamers’ needs, and OLED screens are very snappy and responsive in our tests too, with this one boasting a 0.03ms response time.
With this screen’s colossal dual-QHD 5,120 x 1,440 resolution, you would need to have one of the best graphics card models if you wanted to play your games at native resolution on this screen anyway, and 144Hz is a more realistically achievable aim.
Meanwhile, its 1800R curve will wrap around your vision to immerse you in your game, and its OLED screen has HDR10+ certification as well. Thanks to the way OLED screens work, where each pixel can completely turn itself off with no backlight shining through, you get decent, realistic-looking blacks without a gray tinge, and Samsung claims this screen has a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio.
That Black Friday deal price of $899.99 is already outstanding for this massive OLED monitor, which normally costs $1,299.99, but this deal also means you get a free 2TB Samsung 990 Pro SSD. This is Samsung’s fastest gaming SSD right now, and the 2TB version usually costs around $160 at the moment. It doesn’t use the PCIe 5.0 interface, like the very best gaming SSD models in terms of speed, but it’s as fast as you can get on the PCIe 4.0 interface (and will still work in a PCIe 5.0 slot), making it a great free upgrade, especially with its 2TB capacity.
Our sister site Custom PC’s Samsung 990 Pro review stated that this drive had the “highest sequential speeds we’ve ever seen” at the time, but criticized its high price – a point that is entirely moot when you can get it for free.
