What To Expect From ‘MSC World America’ In 2025
The Port of Miami is gearing up to welcome a striking new megaship in April 2025. Designed with the North American traveler firmly in mind, MSC World America combines MSC Cruises’ European elegance with new features tailored for U.S. guests.
From seven themed onboard districts to cutting-edge sustainable technology, World America promises a fresh take on the modern American cruise experience.
It’s part of MSC’s commitment to expanding its presence in North America, as evidenced by its growing Miami fleet and upcoming Alaska itineraries. Here’s what to expect from this latest addition to the world of megaship cruising.
Aiming At American Families
MSC World America is the second in MSC Cruises’ ‘World’ class of cruise ships. Home to as many as 6,762 passengers and 2,138 crew, the new ship will be among the biggest in the world.
Anyone familiar with MSC World Europa will feel instantly comfortable, yet the new flagship will offer several differences, including many firsts for the line.
MSC World America has been specifically tailored to the North American market, reflecting the cruise line’s increasing investment in U.S.-based operations.
For example, a New York themed comedy club replaces the tea room, and several new restaurant options are planned.
This dual focus is evident throughout its seven themed districts, each designed to provide tailored experiences for guests of all ages.
One of the most anticipated features is The Harbour, a revolutionary outdoor venue located within the Family Aventura district. Families can enjoy an array of activities, including the Cliffhanger—a thrilling swing ride that extends over the ship’s edge—the Harbour Aquapark, and a high ropes course.
The Harbour transitions from day to night, offering live musical performances for parents to enjoy while children and teenagers continue to explore its attractions.
Inside, MSC Sportsplex will keep kids busy for hours, including activities such as arcades, bumper cars, and zorb ball.
It’s not all family-focused, though. The Zen promises an adults-only space at the aft of the ship for those who want to simply lounge with a cocktail and soak up the sun or the wake views. World Galleria and The Terraces promise premium restaurants, bars and shopping, while the World Promenade will play host to pop-up events and nightly light shows.
An Added Touch Of Luxury
For those seeking an extra layer of luxury, MSC Yacht Club provides an exclusive “ship-within-a-ship” experience. For those prepared to pay, the varied accommodation options within Yacht Club all come with 24-hour butler service.
Yacht Club guests also have exclusive access to a restaurant, bar, sun decks, and pool, with reserved seats for theater shows and exclusive excursion options.
MSC World America offers a total of 19 different accommodation options. Outside Yacht Club, the Promenade View Balcony and Infinite Ocean View staterooms are intriguing choices. The latter offers a panoramic sliding window that doubles as a glass balcony railing when open.
Adding to the appeal for families and multi-generational groups, the new flagship offers connecting family staterooms, which can accommodate larger groups.
Europe Meets North America
MSC World America could be the ideal stepping stone for American travelers keen to test out a European cruise line. The ship blends American-tailored dining and entertainment with MSC’s signature European style.
Set to sail from Miami, the ship will offer a mix of Caribbean itineraries, including stops at Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, MSC Cruises’ private island in the Bahamas.
This launch follows MSC Cruises’ broader North American expansion strategy, which includes increasing its fleet in South Florida. For the winter 2024/25 season, MSC Divina and MSC Seaside joined MSC Seascape in Miami, offering itineraries ranging from three to ten nights.
Additionally, MSC Cruises recently announced its entry into Alaska cruising from Seattle in summer 2026. The line will homeport the MSC Poesia in the Pacific Northwest, marking its fifth U.S. homeport.
The launch of MSC World America represents an important milestone in MSC Cruises’ evolution as a global cruise brand. With its new features and focus on catering to American travelers, the ship is poised to make a splash in the Miami cruise ship market.
Whether it succeeds in taking significant market share away from the major players over time remains to be seen.
MSC World America begins sailing from Miami in April 2025 with various Caribbean itineraries already on sale for the 2025 and 2026 seasons.
