Charli XCX wears Vivienne Westwood corset and crystals

It’s safe to say that 2024 has been the year of Charli XCX. The singer, who hails from Essex, masterminded arguably the biggest pop-culture phenomenon in recent years, the nucleus of which — her album Brat — was released earlier this year to furore from both critics and her fans. Now, she’s continuing to strengthen her image as an unconventional fashion icon on the stage.

For the second night of her UK Brat Tour, she appeared at her sold-out London show in a look designed by Andreas Kronthaler for Vivienne Westwood.

The ensemble consisted of a satin blue custom corseted bodysuit worn over dark grey leggings, embellished with an abundance of crystals, and a pair of towering patent leather platform heels. She accessorised the look with her signature oversized black sunglasses and a red shoestring belt tied around her waist.

It’s no coincidence that she chose to wear a name that holds such a symbiotic relationship with the city; the 32-year-old and her stylist Chris Horan have curated a carousel of always-on-theme looks this year, referencing the undercurrent of Brat in one way or another. Leather boots, micro-proportions and a leading display of the no-trousers trend have all taken centre-stage during her performances.

For the first night of her tour in Manchester she appeared in multiple looks, but the most memorable ensemble of the evening, which saw her performing in a cloudburst of rain, consisted of a pair of slouchy cream knee high boots, with embellished crystal underwear layered under a sheer white t-shirt and draped asymmetric mini skirt.

Straight off the back of her Times Square performance with H&M — to which thousands of fans turned out wearing individual homages to Brat — the singer will be completing the rest of her album tour in the UK before picking it back up in the US in spring 2025.
