Entertainment: New music and new shows to look out for

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – There’s brand new music from Hawaii artists to look out for.

A new song called “Someone Else” comes from two alumni out of Kamehameha Schools — Francis Gora and Kekaulele Kawaiaea, professionally known as “Franskiiz and Lelz,” respectively. They’re making music out in Los Angeles.

They’re known for their fresh take on island reggae that, according to them, combines their diverse musical backgrounds and cultural heritage.

The song is produced by Pana who also brought you the songs “Utu BangBang” and “Smoke All Day” by Ka’ikena Scanlan.

The music video was released last week, but the song drops this Friday on streaming platforms.

Also out with a new song is Na Hoku Hanohano Award Winner and Kumu Hula Natalie Ai Kamauu.

Her new song titled “Waimea Lullabye” talks about her home of Waimea. Natalie moved up to Hawaii Island and raved about being up in Paniolo Country.

The music video is now available on YouTube, and it features her hula dancers from Halau ‘Ilaniwai.

Now as for new shows for you and the family to enjoy — Cirque Du Soleil has partnered with Outrigger Resorts & Hotels to bring a new show called “’Auana.”

It’s in a newly renovated showroom in the Outrigger Waikiki Beachcomber Hotel.

Hawaii News Now Entertainment Reporter Billy V got to see a preview of the show on Wednesday and spoke to members of the creative core — Dr. Keao NeSmith, Fashion Designer Manaola Yap, Kumu Hula Ka’ilihiwa Vaughan-Darval and Na Hoku Hanohano Award winner Dr. Aaron J Sala who is the cultural creative director.

They said in a panel that the journey has been incredible and it’s a space of Kanaka Maoli/Polynesian firepower in one room.

Billy V will have more about ‘Auana coming up this weekend on Hawaii News Now.

It tells the story of four kids searching for their home planet after getting lost in the Star Wars galaxy, and the strange aliens and dangerous places they encounter on their adventure.

The cast and crew celebrated the launch event at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland Monday night.

The two-episode premiere is available now only on Disney +.
