The first beta version of One UI 7.0 was released yesterday for the Galaxy S24 in select countries. It introduced dozens of new and improved features. It also brought several minor improvements, like Galaxy Buds integration in the media player widget, that didn’t get an honorable mention in the changelog.
One UI 7.0 media player widget in Quick Panel has Galaxy Buds controls
The media player widget in the Quick Panel on One UI 7.0 now shows Galaxy Buds controls. As shown in our screenshot below, the media player widget has a Galaxy Buds icon in the bottom right corner. When you tap on that icon, a new page appears that shows Galaxy Buds controls.
These Galaxy Buds controls include:
- Battery charge level
- Volume
- ANC controls: Off, Ambient Sound, Adaptive, Active Noise Cancelling
- ANC level slider
- 360 Audio
- Equalizer
- App name
This is a nifty new addition and will be useful for almost everyone who listens to music/podcasts or watches videos on their Galaxy smartphone or tablet using Galaxy Buds. A similar feature is available on iPhones when AirPods are used to listen to audio.
Currently, these Galaxy Buds controls appear to be working only with the Galaxy Buds 3 and the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro. The Galaxy Buds icon doesn’t appear for older Galaxy Buds, like the Galaxy Buds FE.
We are unsure if the new controls will appear only for Galaxy Buds 3 (and newer) or if Samsung plans to add support for older Galaxy Buds in future beta versions of One UI 7.0.
