Asheville woman arrested for suspected vehicle arson outside Brevard Road business
ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — The Asheville Police Department (APD) has arrested a woman suspected of setting fire to a vehicle outside of a business on the night of Dec. 5.
According to a release, officers responded to the 600 block of Brevard Road around 11:02 p.m. to assist the Asheville Fire Department (AFD) with a vehicular fire.

The Dec. 6 release said that before the fire, AFD saw a person leaving the scene, heading south.
Upon arrival, APD officers later canvassed the area and located a woman matching the description of the person fleeing the scene.
The release said that Samantha Marie Scott, 34, was then taken into custody without incident and charged with Felony Burning Personal Property, Felony Burning of a Commercial Structure-Unoccupied, and Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Scott was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility under a $40,000 (or $4,000 to a bondsman) secured bond issued by a magistrate.
