All The Nominations For The 2025 Golden Globe Awards
The Golden Globes Awards are on the calendar and set to kick off awards season in true Hollywood style.
On Monday morning, actors Mindy Kaling and Morris Chestnut announced who was in the running for the 82nd Golden Globes, which honors standouts in film and television.
With 27 categories across comedy and drama, a diverse range of titles are getting their dues.
In film, French musical comedy “Emilia Pérez” emerged as the frontrunner with 10 nominations, while post-World War II drama “The Brutalist” and Vatican thriller “Conclave” followed.
Next year’s Golden Globes will offer multiple opportunities for the musical genre to shine. Along with “Emilia Perez,” the blockbuster Broadway adaptation, “Wicked,” scored four nominations. The leads from both films, Selena Gomez and Ariana Grande, will go head to head in the Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture category.
Television’s top nominees echoed selections from September’s Emmy Awards, with “The Bear,” “Only Murders in the Building” and “Shōgun” leading the pack.
Stars Kate Winslet, Sebastian Stan and Gomez each scored double Golden Globe nominations for their work.
Additionally, television legend Ted Danson is set to receive the Carol Burnett Award, which recognizes figures who have “made outstanding contributions to television on or off screen.”
He’s also in the running for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy, with a nomination for the mystery romp, “A Man on the Inside.”
The venerable Viola Davis will be honored with the Cecil B. DeMille Award for achievement in film.
The 2025 Golden Globes will be the second year to include categories for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement in Motion Pictures and Best Performance in Stand-Up Comedy on Television.
The glitzy kickoff to Hollywood’s annual awards season has been trying to reimagine itself in the wake of controversy that overwhelmed the Globes and its former organizer, the now-disbanded Hollywood Foreign Press Association, back in 2021.
In an exposé by The Los Angeles Times, journalists from the HFPA were accused of soliciting perks from studios to sweeten their chances to be on the ballot. A shocking lack of diversity across the organization was also highlighted.
In the aftermath of the scandal, the awards were shelved in 2022 only to return with new rules and new members under the banner of the Golden Globes Foundation last year.
This year’s Golden Globes will air live from the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Jan. 5, 2025, on CBS, hosted by stand-up comedian Nikki Glaser.
