Portland was named among the 50 best places to travel in the world for 2025 by Travel + Leisure.
The Rose City was chosen out of nearly 120 possible destinations reviewed by the travel magazine’s editors for its big city charm, earning it a spot on the “Big City Thrills” list. Other travel categories include ones for cultural immersion, nature lovers, moments on the water, food and drink, beach vibes and locations for adventure travelers.
What was Travel + Leisure’s criteria to make the list? The magazine said it chose locations that “feel of the moment, whether that’s because they offer unparalleled access to the outdoors, a cultural immersion you can’t find anywhere else, a pulse-quickening hit of excitement, or the sort of blissful luxury only a true five-star property can deliver.”
