The Golden Globes famously brings the top-tier TV and movie stars all under one roof for a night of awards, memorable fashion and all the glitz and glamour fans expect from a star-studded ceremony.
And the 2025 Golden Globes — which will be held at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles on Sunday, January 5 — are no exception.
As Hollywood looks back on the most dramatic, the most whimsical, the most widely-talked about TV shows and films of 2024, several actors and projects stand out. Both Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande are nominated for Wicked, which also received a Best Motion Picture — Musical or Comedy nod. Selena Gomez is up for two different acting awards — a supporting actress nod for her role in Emilia Pérez (which garnered 10 nominations this year), and a lead actress nomination for Only Murders in the Building.
Other big films to watch out for include A Complete Unknown (the Bob Dylan biopic starring Timothee Chamalet), The Substance (starring Demi Moore), Conclave (starring Ralph Fiennes), and The Brutalist (starring Adrian Brody) — all of which have received multiple nominations, including acting and best movie nods.
Notably, the Golden Globes are frequently cited as the best predictor of Oscar winners — meaning that the Globes film winners that year have also been known to become Academy Award winners the same awards season.
TV lovers will also be delighted to see some of their Globe-loved favorites (like Abbott Elementary, Only Murders in the Building, The Bear and Hacks) get multiple nominations. New series, including Mr. and Mrs. Smith and Shogun, have also collected several nominations.
Fans can watch the 2025 Golden Globes live on Sunday, January 5, starting at 8 p.m. ET on CBS and streaming on Paramount+.
The awards show will be hosted by comedian Nikki Glaser.
