Platte City to gain 245 new jobs through Central Power Systems & Services expansion

Central Power Systems & Services, a longstanding power generator manufacturer, announced plans to invest more than $28.5 million in an expansion project in Platte City, Missouri. This initiative will add 245 jobs to the local economy and includes a new hands-on training center, upgraded machinery, and expanded production facilities.

Governor Mike Parson highlighted the significance of the investment, stating, “Central Power Systems & Services’ significant expansion in Platte City is another example of a leading manufacturer choosing Missouri as a place to grow. This company’s success in our state is bringing even more investment and good-paying jobs to the thriving Kansas City region.”

Founded in 1954, Central Power operates in 22 locations with 500 employees nationwide. The company specializes in natural gas and diesel generator manufacturing and assembly, along with maintenance and rental services. Its product portfolio also includes industrial engines, construction, and agricultural equipment.

Director of Marketing Paige Roberts expressed enthusiasm about the company’s future in Platte County. “Our leadership team is comprised of individuals who have an extensive background in diesel repair, and our company values are centered around doing what is right and taking care of our team members,” Roberts stated. “We look forward to bringing these values to the Platte City community, along with bright career options and technical training programs.”

The Missouri Department of Economic Development (DED) also voiced support. “We’re excited to see manufacturers continuing to help Missourians prosper in the Kansas City region and beyond through investment and job creation,” said Michelle Hataway, DED Director.

The new jobs created by the expansion will offer an average wage exceeding the county’s average income. Central Power plans to utilize resources from Missouri Works, a state program that supports business growth through tax credits and capital access, and may receive recruitment and training support through Missouri One Start.
