Travelers should add coastal Maine to their list of destinations for 2025, according to Afar.

The print and digital travel publication released a list of where to go in 2025 and included Maine’s Bold Coast.

“The best way to experience it is by following the Bold Coast National Scenic Byway, which spans from Milbridge to the town of Eastport,” Afar wrote.

Those who drive along the byway encounter seaside cliffs, blueberry farms, lobster boats, farm-to-table restaurants, according to the publication.

Travelers can take a wildlife boat tour with Atlantic Edge Adventures, grab a lobster roll at Chipman’s Wharf, and hit the trails at Cutler Coast Public Land reserve. It’s also worth eating at French restaurant Flora, set inside a 200-year-old former dairy barn, the publication wrote.

Afar recommended staying at The Inn at Schoppee Farm, a red farmhouse from the 1800s along the Machias River or the newly opened Hackmatack Cottages.

“Cap off your trip with the candy cane–striped West Quoddy Head Lighthouse in Lubec, which overlooks the Bay of Fundy just over the Canadian border,” Afar wrote.

Other spots on the list include Boone, N.C.; Chios, Greece; and North Wales.
