The Green Jobs and Pathways Summit will be held at from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on May 8 at Clover Park Technical College.
Organized by the city of Tacoma and WorkForce Central in collaboration with the Good Jobs, Great Cities initiative, the free summit centers on “green jobs” across different industries and the future of said jobs.
“This summit will focus on building foundations of understanding across ‘green jobs’ sector stakeholders so we can intentionally grow and bridge pathways,” a release about the event said. “We will share research and information gathered on top skills, local training pathways, and equity in quality green jobs so Pierce County stakeholders can understand trends in labor market demands as well as local opportunities for advancement in these careers.”
The event’s agenda includes panels like “Blue Collars in Green Cities,” “Jobs and Skills of the Future: Green Construction, Manufacturing, and Energy,” “Local, Green Training Pathways,” “Increasing Access and Retention in Good Green Jobs,” to name a few.
Panelists and moderators include Tacoma City Councilmember Olgy Diaz, Tacoma Mayor Victoria Woodards, the Foundation for Tacoma Students’s Dr. Tafona Ervin, Tacoma Poet Laureate Christian Paige, and others.
