Florida regulators continue to crack down on illegal gambling

The Florida Gaming Control Commission has reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the community by addressing illegal gambling activities. In a press release published earlier this week, the regulator emphasized its mission to “preserve and protect the integrity of gaming activities in Florida through fair regulation, licensing, effective criminal investigation, and enforcement.”

The report highlights a recent investigation conducted by FGCC agents in collaboration with local law enforcement in Volusia and Brevard counties. This operation led to the closure of five illegal casinos in Brevard County, resulting in the seizure of more than 500 gaming machines and more than $845,000. Arrests related to this case are pending.

Additionally, the FGCC seized 19 machines and more than $6,000 from two independently owned establishments: Stop & Go Convenience Store on Ridgewood Avenue and Mark and Jill’s Village Tavern on Nova Road. Three people were arrested and charged with illegal possession of slot machines and gambling devices and operating illegal gaming facilities.

The Volusia Sheriff’s Office and the FGCC also shut down 11 illegal casinos this summer following a two-year investigation.
