World Relief provides update on refugees in the Chippewa Valley
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) – We are learning more about the resettlement process today as refugees are settling in here in the Chippewa Valley.
A manager for World Relief, the non-profit organization overseeing the efforts to help the refugees, said they are now talking with elected officials quarterly in an effort to be more transparent.
She said their first meeting was held recently and was well-received.
World Relief said it was a great opportunity to answer questions about their role with the refugees.
“We provide their first 90-day course services, so the first month is pretty much a weekly contact with the refugees, making sure that everything’s going well and we’re connecting them to all the different support services in the Community,” said Ka Vang, Site Manager for Chippewa Valley World Relief.
World Relief said the 24 refugees that have already made it to the Chippewa Valley are adjusting well.
