Holiday travel at Portland airport expected to surge by 12%

PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — Travelers are preparing for a busy Christmas season at Portland International Airport, with officials predicting a significant increase in passenger numbers compared to last year.

According to the Port of Portland, the airport saw an 8% rise in travelers this past Thanksgiving compared to the previous year.

They now anticipate more than 900,000 travelers will pass through the airport during the holiday season, marking a 12% increase from last year.

The busiest travel days are expected to be December 27, 30, and 31. Portland International Airport advises passengers to arrive early and familiarize themselves with the new main terminal to ensure a smooth travel experience.
