Changes coming to Barracks Road Shopping Center
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – Charlottesville has approved plans that will have parts of the Barracks Road Shopping Center looking completely different.
Changes will include to the lighting, landscape, and sidewalks. Some portions with wood paneling will be replaced by exposed brick.
The project is a part of owner Federal Realty Investment Trust’s efforts to give the space a makeover.
The Charlottesville Department of Neighborhood Development Services has given its approval to these plans. According to a Department report, these changes will make the shopping center blend into its surroundings, citing the exposed brick and metal roofs typical to Charlottesville design.
