Make-A-Wish Nevada and Camping World grant camper wish to Las Vegas toddler
LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Brooklyn King, a 2-year-old girl from Las Vegas, has been granted a wish thanks to a partnership between Make-A-Wish Nevada and Camping World.
Brooklyn, who has faced significant medical challenges since birth, including a respiratory disorder and a tethered spinal cord, has endured numerous surgeries and spent over 200 days in the neonatal intensive care unit.
She also suffers from seizures and ongoing choking issues, requiring constant care, including a ventilator and nebulizer.
“She wished for a camper because we have to go out of state for medical a lot,” said Tabitha King, Brooklyn’s mother.
Despite these challenges, Brooklyn remains a joyful child who enjoys watching the movie “Frozen” and singing along to Miss Rachel.
Due to her medical needs, Brooklyn and her family frequently travel to Salt Lake City, Utah, for treatment. In addition, the family will be heading to a facility in Colorado for treatment, said Tabitha. This treatment requires the family to head to the facility every week for nine weeks, she continued. Initially, they were hoping to work with a facility in California, but they were booked until September 2025.
However, the cost and logistics of air travel, compounded by the extensive medical equipment required, have made these trips difficult.
The family wished for a camper to transform these necessary journeys into opportunities for creating lasting family memories.
Camping World has collaborated with Make-A-Wish to grant 641 camper vehicles since 2021, said Make-A-Wish Nevada president Scott Rosenzweig.
