Dense fog, icy roads will impact Sunday morning travel

A Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect for much of southern Minnesota and northern Iowa through this morning. Dense fog will reduce visibility to one-quarter mile or less. In addition, temperatures in the upper 20s to low 30s will cause the fog to freeze on roads and surfaces, making them slippery at times. If you’re traveling this morning, be prepared to allow extra time. Icy roads and low visibility are a dangerous combination.

Sunday afternoon will be mostly cloudy but warmer, with highs in the mid to upper 30s. We are watching another system that has the potential to bring some light rain and snow Monday afternoon into Monday night. After that, colder Canadian air will move into the region, keeping temperatures in the low to mid 20s through most of next week.

Unfortunately, the chance of a white Christmas—beyond what we have now—isn’t looking great. But there is still hope. Christmas is still over 10 days away, and a lot can happen between now and then.
