Julia Fox Slips Into an Edgy Chainmail Gown with a Cheeky Detail
Julia Fox is known for her futuristic approach to fashion, but last night, she looked like she stepped out of the middle ages.
At the 2024 NGV Gala in Melbourne, Australia, the Uncut Gems actor slipped into a dress made entirely of chainmail, sourcing the look from locally-based brand Catholic Guilt. Her skin peeked out from underneath the intricate design, which featured a train made of silver rings and a cheeky cutout at the back.
With the gala celebrating the launch of the Yayoi Kusama exhibition—the largest collection of the Japanese artist’s works ever presented in Australia—Fox worked with her stylist Briana Andalore and Catholic Guilt designer Ella Jackson to include a sweet tribute in her look. The bodice on her metallic gown flaunted an array of red gemstones, inspired by the polka dots often seen in Kusama’s work. She paired her medieval outfit with a pair of towering red platform heels.
Fox accessorized her ensemble with gauntlet-like finger rings, making sure to adorn every digit with the chrome jewelry. She continued the shimmering theme with a matching glam, wearing a reflective silver eyeshadow and a light brown lipstick. Her blonde locks flowed down in soft waves, and she topped off her look with a matching chainmail veil.
The It girl opened up about her experimental sense of style in a 2022 interview with the Cut. “[My publicity team was] like, ‘Oh, they’re a little too editorial,’ ‘It’s too sexy. It’s too provocative. It’s too out there,’” she said. “I was just like, ‘Okay, I guess I just have to be more Hollywood and more bland.’ But fuck that narrative if I want to pop out and wear crazy shit—which is what I want to wear.”
