This Sleek ’90s-Inspired Coat Is My Two-Second Trick for Dressing up Any Outfit
There a a few things in the fashion world that I’ll never turn down, and a really, really good leather jacket is pretty close to the top of my list. Yes, there are some beautiful leather bombers and moto jackets to choose from, but for the moments when you want something that feels undeniably polished with an air of cool, might I suggest a chic leather trench?
There will always be a time and place for a classic khaki trench coat during the colder months of the year—especially during those morning commutes on rainy, windy days. That said, a cool leather number, like Overland’s Mia Leather Trench Coat, feels like an expected rendition of the silhouette—and without a doubt, it’ll instantly dress up your outfits. Trust me, I know.
Most of my knowledge of the American leather goods brand Overland has been focused on its cozy shearling jackets. (I’ve owned one of the label’s bomber styles for a few years now, and it feels like wearing a cozy blanket that only gets better with wear.) But, when the time came to update my wardrobe with a staple that could be easily dressed up or down, it was this sleek, ’90s-inspired trench that caught my eye.
At first, the classic design drew me in. Then, upon closer inspection, I fell in love with the white contrast stitching, which gives an otherwise timeless design a modern touch. Of course, I can’t ignore the fact that this Italian lambskin leather is lightweight and buttery soft. Sure, leather jackets come in all different textures and weights, but there’s something about slipping this style on that feels effortless and, well, luxurious.
I also love the length of this coat. Hitting above the knee at the mid-thigh, I would consider this a short trench coat, which feels practical for my lifestyle. Plus, it allows me to showcase chic suede boots, skirts, trousers, or dresses without working too hard. With these factors in mind, I consider this my two-second trick for dressing up any outfit, no matter the season. I’ve worn it with ease during these colder months with a pair of jeans, kitten heels, and a sweater. I’ve also styled it over a Markarian dress for a gala and a first date after. If that’s not versatility at its finest, I don’t know what is.
Could this be the perfect leather trench coat? If you’re asking me, I’d say yes. So, if you’re in the market for one you’ll have for years, grab this chic style now.
