Panasonic announces the LUMIX TZ99 & G97 – Newsshooter

Panasonic has announced two entry-level mirrorless hybrid cameras, the LUMIX TZ99 and G97. The new LUMIX G97 and TZ99 offer a wide range of updated photo and video features.

LUMIX TZ99

The LUMIX TZ99 is a pocket-size travel camera, perfect for capturing life’s adventures on the go. Available in black or silver, the TZ99 will be available from February 2025 at an RRP of $477.99 USD.

  • 24-720mm (35mm Equivalent)

  • ISO 6400 and up to 30 fps Shooting
  • 4K Photo Modes and Post Focus
  • USB-C Charging & Data Transfer
  • Bluetooth 5.0, 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi

Equipped with a 24-720mm LEICA DC lens, the LUMIX TZ99 offers 30x optical zoom and up to 60x with iZoom. It also features in-built 5-Axis HYBRID O.I.S.+.

It can record 4K video at up to 30p and Full HD at up to 60p.

  • FHD:1920×1080, 60p (28Mbps/sensor output 60 frames/second)
  • FHD:1920×1080, 30p (20Mbps/sensor output 30 frames/second)

  • High-speed video: HD: 1280×720, 30p (sensor output 120 frames/sec), VGA: 640×480, 30p (sensor output 240 frames/sec)
  • Maximum recording time: 4K: 15 minutes limited, FHD/60p, High Speed Video/HD: 29 minutes 59 seconds limited

There is a tiltable 1,840k-dot touchscreen and USB Type-C charging. You can connect with built-in Bluetooth v5.0, plus a dedicated Send Image button for transfers to your smartphone.

LUMIX G97

The LUMIX G97 micro four thirds camera combines high-performance and simplicity. It is also available from February 2025, the G97 is offered as a body-only option (RRP £699) or with two kit variations: £799 with a 12-60mm lens or $847.99 USD with a 14-140mm lens.

  • ISO 25600 and 9 fps Continuous Shooting
  • Bluetooth LE and Wi-Fi Connectivity
  • Lumix G Vario 12-60mm f/3.5-5.6 Lens

The camera utilizes a 20.3MP CMOS sensor and a Venus Engine processor.

A Live View Composite feature is also included, providing the ability to combine multiple exposures in real time.

The LUMIX G97 has a 5-stop 5-axis Dual I.S.2 system and the ability to record 4K at up to 30p with no record time limitations. You can also record HD at up to 240p. There is a vertical video recording mode and Panasonic claims 12-stops of dynamic range when shooting in V-Log L. Additionally there are headphone and microphone jacks.

There is also a 4K PHOTO mode where you can capture bursts of high-resolution photos at 30fps.

The camera features a 1,840k-dot free-angle LCD and 2,360k-dot OLED Live View Finder and a dust/splash-resistant construction.

There is built-in Bluetooth v5.0 for sharing and remote control, as well as USB Type-C charging.
