Highway reopened after Wills Point business burns overnight

VAN ZANDT COUNTY, Texas (KLTV) – Fire crews are monitoring what’s left of a Wills Point business burned by fire overnight.

Firefighters first arrived at the scene around 11:40 p.m. Tuesday, according to Grand Saline Fire Department public information officer Caden Mosher.

More than two dozen personnel from the fire and police departments in Wills Point, Edgewood, and Grand Saline responded, along with Oncor.

The thrift store next to Wills Point City Hall on Houston Street appears to have extensive damage from the fire, which is still under investigation.

U.S. Highway 80 was shut down in both the westbound and eastbound directions for several hours.

No injuries are reported at this time.

Mosher said lingering smoke may be visible in the area throughout the morning hours.
