Attention! Effective January 8, 2025: All U.S. citizens traveling to or through the UK for tourism, business or short-term study for 6 months or less will require an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA). Please see full details on how to apply for your ETA at: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/check-when-you-can-get-an-electronic-travel-authorisation-eta

If you have travel planned to the UK starting January 8, 2025, here are some facts about the now required Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA):

  • ETA costs £10
  • Permits multiple visits
  • Valid for two years or until your passport expires – whichever is sooner
  • Stays of up to six months at a time permitted
  • Everyone travelling needs to apply, even minors
  • Once you apply, you will usually get a decision within 3 working days
