Grocery shopping for Christmas? Here are the food recalls you need to know about

Whether you’re whipping up a batch of Christmas cookies or helming the kitchen to make Christmas dinner, planning for Christmas meals can be stressful.

Now, how about a curveball– what about not being able to purchase an ingredient because it’s been recalled and pulled from grocery store shelves?

From eggs to pieces and vegetables, here are some items facing recent food recalls.

Organic Eggs

On Nov. 27, Handsome Brook Farms voluntarily recalled 10,800 cases of 24-count Organic Pasture Raised Eggs sold at Costco under the Kirkland Signature brand name due to the potential for salmonella contamination, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

The affected eggs were distributed to Costco stores in Alabama, North Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee and South Carolina beginning on Nov. 22 and are stamped with a “use by” date of Jan. 5, 2025.

Cinnamon powder

On Nov. 18, California-based IHA Beverage issued a voluntary recall of cinnamon powder due to potential contamination with lead. The affected product was packaged in 4 oz. plastic bags labeled as Super Dried Cinnamon Powder. The product was distributed mostly through California retail stores and a few stores across the United States.

Vegetable Medleys

On Nov. 26, California-based 4Earth Farms recalled several brands of its Organic Vegetable Medley, Conventional Vegetable Medley and Organic Whole Carrots due to potential E. coli contamination.
