Local business gives back to the less fortunate
DECATUR, Ala. (WAFF) – Many gathered at Bank Street Grill today to hand out hot meals.
Melissa Staten said that giving back is important to her and that’s why she got in the restaurant business.
“I don’t like seeing people hungry. I guess that’s why I went to the restaurant business a long time ago. I just felt in my heart I want to help them,” said Melissa Staten.
Melissa and her husband Timothy Staten own Bank Street Grill together. Timothy tells us that at one point they needed that extra support that they are now giving to others.
“We’ve struggled, you know we’ve had hard times, you know everybody goes though something its just a blessing for us to be able to help somebody else out you know what I mean,” said Timothy Staten.
Along with these meals they handed out care packages full of canned goods, crackers, blankets socks and so much more.
Nicholas Perkins, the brother of Steve Perkins, came out to Bank Street Grill today to help pass out the goodies.
“Everybody is not as fortunate as everybody else. When you’ve been blessed, its not for you to keep, its for you to pass those blessings on,” said Perkins.
Both Timothy and Melissa said that today’s event made them feel great and they plan to continue to give back.
