Monday snow could spell trouble for travel/last-minute shopping
This will be the last snow before Christmas Day, but it may be the most impactful of the latest bunch.
Snowfall totals could be higher in spots compared to our round late last week.
A bit of snow is possible during the morning commute, especially across the north.
However, most of us will make it to the afternoon without much issue.
It is at this time that the snow will begin to descend into Mid-Michigan. It will not let up until early Tuesday morning.
There could even be a mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain initially across I-69.
This will be short-lived, but it could make things even worse if a glaze of ice coats the ground before the snow picks up.
The remainder of the evening and some of the overnight will feature snow, which could be heavy at times.
Our worst commute will be Monday evening, with some impacts potentially lingering into Tuesday morning.
For those hoping for a White Christmas, this is music to your ears!
Most of us will see at least a couple of inches of snow. Some of our northern communities could see 6″ or more.
Snowfall will go from it’s lowest range (1-2″) across the southwest, to it’s highest (6″+) across the north.
Once the snow is done, there should not be a ton of melting on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day.
Highs will only be a degree or two above freezing, with absolutely no sunshine.
Overnight lows will also be just below freezing, so no melting will happen then!
If you must do some last minute shopping, or have travel plans to see friends or family, budget extra time to get where you need to go.
Pack your patience too, as slow travel is expected.
Be safe and have a merry Christmas!
