Looking for a job? The Osceola Friends of the Library’s Book Sale takes place on Thursday, May 9 from 12-5 p.m., Friday May 10 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday May 11 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This is a great opportunity to restock your home library while supporting programs sponsored by the Friends of the Library. Cash and credit cards are accepted. For $4 you can fill a grocery bag size bag with books, $.25 for paperback and children’s books, $.50 for hardcover fiction and nonfiction. You may also purchase a Friends of the Library bag for $2. The Poinciana Library is located at 101 N. Doverplum Ave.

 

Osceola Arts Summer Camp at Valencia College – Poinciana, begins on Monday, June 3 with week-long segments through Friday, Aug. 9, Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. This camp is for ages 8-13 and has a different theme each week.

The theme for the week of June 3-14 will be Disney on Broadway. This is a musical theater camp featuring singing, acting and dance Disney style. Hogwarts Headquarters is the theme for June 17-21. This virtual arts camp will focus on the stories of Harry Potter. Animation Station takes place June 24-28. Campers will work on animation, stopmotion, character stories and more. My Shot runs July 8-13. Enter the world of Lin/Manuel Miranda–sing, act and dance to production numbers from Hamilton, Encanto, In the Heights and more.

Aspiring young filmmakers can dive into the world of movies with a 2-week Director’s Cut Camp from July 22 to Aug. 2. Laugh Lab Comedy wraps up this summer camp Aug. 5-9. Campers will work together on improv games, sketch comedy and stand-up comedy.

At the end of each camp session there will be a Final Showcase at 3 p.m. on the last Friday of each camp.

Poinciana Summer Fun Camp, presented by Star Athletes will be held at Poinciana Christian Preparatory School (4942 Old Pleasant Hill Road). This camp is Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. through the month of June and is for children ages 7-16.
