If your resolution is to travel more in 2025 then why not get a headstart by celebrating in one of the world’s best new year’s destinations? From grandiose fireworks displays to start the year off with a bang to nighttime skiing on snowy slopes, here’s some New Years travel inspiration for holiday jetsetters.
New York City: The Best Bucket List New Year’s Celebration
New York City needs little introduction when it comes to New Years festivities—a billion or so people from around the world tune in to watch the ball drop in Times Square and thousands more brave the crowds to see it live. More iconic ways to celebrate New Years in New York City include sipping champagne 100 stories above Manhattan from the cantilevered observation deck at Edge, embarking on a fireworks cruise, or enjoying a light show along an illuminated trail underneath the moonlight at Brooklyn Botanic Gardens.
Las Vegas: Best New Year’s Destination For Partygoers
Plenty of energetic celebrations will keep you out past midnight in Las Vegas, including a dazzling fireworks display with launches from rooftops of some of The Strip’s most iconic hotels, including ARIA Resort & Casino; Caesars Palace; Fontainebleau Las Vegas; MGM Grand Hotel and Casino; Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino; Resorts World Las Vegas; The STRAT Hotel, Casino & Tower; Treasure Island – TI Hotel & Casino; and The Venetian Resort Las Vegas. A live countdown will also be displayed on the exosphere, the 580,000 square-foot LED display that wraps around The Sphere.
Over on Fremont Street in downtown Las Vegas, the Plaza Hotel & Casino will put on its own fireworks show.
Concert-goers can catch 2024 shows like Imagine Dragons at The Venetian Resort, Creed at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, 50 Cent at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino and Lil Wayne at Drai’s Nightclub at The Cromwell Las Vegas.
Hong Kong: Most Impressive Fireworks Show
Hong Kong is another destination that goes all out for New Year’s Eve with its multi-sensory musical firework show that’s staged over Victoria Harbour. The theme of this year’s show is “The Symphony of Happiness.”
The Peninsula Hong Kong offers a luxurious stay with phenomenal views of the fireworks over the harbour from the 28th floor at Felix, which will be hosting a celebration and afterparty with international DJs and live bands. After the New Year’s festivities wind down, join an Afternoon Tea Voyage aboard the World Star Ferry, sipping seasonal teas while live music plays during a cruise around the Victoria Harbour.
New Year’s revelers can also celebrate at Hong Kong Disneyland, which orchestrates a New Year’s show with drones dancing in the sky and fireworks in front of the Castle of Magical Dreams.
Round out a winter trip to Hong Kong by snacking your way through the Temple Street food stalls, trying fish balls, dim sum, and nostalgic treats like coconut wraps.
Mont-Tremblant, Québec, Canada: Best New Year’s Destination for Skiers
How does this itinerary sound: New Year’s Eve schussing down the slopes, New Year’s day soaking in hot springs surrounded by snow-covered evergreens?
Mont-Tremblant is a cute ski village in Québec, where skiers can enjoy prime powder days in December and January. On New Year’s Eve, the ski resort throws an epic party on the base of the slopes with live music, DJs, dancing, and a New Year’s countdown. But the marquee event is the “torchlight descent,” a nighttime parade down the mountain that intermediate and advanced skiers and snowboarders can join.
The next day, enjoy a therapeutic soak in the thermal baths at Scandinave Spa or book a room at the Fairmont Tremblant, a ski-in, ski-out hotel where guests can enjoy heated pools while snowflakes fall.
Paris, France: The Best New Year’s Destination for Luxury Travelers
As host of the Summer Olympics, Paris basked in the spotlight in 2024 and surely inspired travelers to check out France’s capital. Plus, Notre-Dame Cathedral recently reopened, which is reason enough to book a trip to France.
New Year’s Eve is a fantastic time to see the City of Lights in all of its glory, with a fireworks show at the Arc de Triomphe, which is illuminated for the holidays, as well as dazzling light displays at the Eiffel Tower.
River cruises along the Seine, a cabaret show, and visiting the holiday markets are all fun highlights for Parisian New Year’s itineraries.
For a five-star stay, settle into The Ritz Paris, home to the Michelin-starred Espandon restaurant, a beautiful indoor pool with a cloud-like ceiling, and suites with Eiffel Tower views.
