Areas of fog could lead to slick travel conditions

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) — Areas of dense fog have filled into much of the viewing area due to some melting snow. As such, most of us are now in a Dense Fog Advisory until noon on Tuesday. This fog will hinder any travel plans due to reduced visibility and even a few slick spots due to freezing fog since temperatures are in the 20s this morning. Much of this fog should lift by this afternoon, but another round of fog could be on the way tonight. We’ll stay partly to mostly cloudy around the region today after the fog clears. Highs will be in the 30s and 40s.

Our nice warming trend will continue heading into Christmas Day. Highs tomorrow will be close to 40 for most of us! It will be even warmer in central South Dakota! We won’t be seeing any snow before or on Christmas, so no white Christmas this year! You’ll just need to watch out for some patchy fog Christmas morning.

We’re keeping a close eye on a more active weather pattern to end out the week. Temperatures will be warm enough to support some rainfall Friday into Saturday morning, with another chance for some light snow returning early next week. We may also see temps cool off a bit, but highs would still be in the 30s for most of us.
